Resumé |
Professor
Baecker is an internationally
recognized expert in the field
of Biotechnology and Industrial
Microbiology. He is recognised
nationally and internationally
as a specialist and Expert
Witness in Biodeterioration with
special reference to
Biodegradation and Forest
Products Biotechnology. He has
served as an elected Associate
of the Institute of Wood Science
(London), an invited Affiliate
of the South African Wood
Preservers' Association, an
elected Member of the
International Research Group on
Wood Preservation (a former OECD
Group of Experts), and as an
invited Group Leader thereof
He has further successfully
supervised the research of many
M.Sc. and Ph.D students, has
directed academic and industrial
research groups and is a former
National Examiner (SCOTEC, UK)
in Economic Microbiology and
External Examiner of M.Sc. and
Ph.D. theses for several
universities.
Professor Baecker the author or
co-author of approximately 150
scientific publications and has
presented original research
papers at many international
conferences over the past twenty
years.
In 1992, Baecker Research was
established as an independent
practice in Forest Products
Biotechnology, with in-house
laboratories, workshops,
plantation and riverine field
sites. Professor Baecker is the
inventor of over 45 Patents
examined and granted since 1994
in the USA, Chile, Canada,
Europe, Australia, New Zealand
and Africa. Professor Baecker
also acts as Consultant
Biotechnologist for many
national and multinational
concerns, both private and
public, and he has authored over
100 confidential reports in this
capacity.
